Finding unique pieces on the road less traveled.
I was trained in the arts of thrift at the very young age of 8. Being raised by a single mother on the South side of Chicago, I was the oldest out of three. Mother was a Property Manager by day, waitress by night, and part-time college student. Easy to say that times got tough. I had to play the role of "big sister" quite often during the week while mom was toiling at a better life for her children. So, in return for my "Big" sisterly duties, mom would reward me on the weekends with...a day at the thrift store!
As I grew into my teens, I started to take notice what fashionably was trendy during those Gen X days. Forenza, Outback Red, Benetton, Girbaud Jeans, Esprit, were some of the names I would hear through the hallway's of my middle school. These were the exact same designers I would see on those special weekends at the thrift store with my mother... For a quarter of the price! I was hooked.
Today, I have found myself with a lovely addiction to finding the sui generis. From grandma's cryptic closet, to my neighbors esoteric attic. That buried boutique, to my married couples mysterious basement, searching for that abondoned piece to claim and find it a new home here through Etsy.
Cheers.
