Tokyo meets Melbourne
Yumi has been making ceramic jewelleries and homewares since 2009 after studying Interior Design and Decoration at RMIT and worked in retails. She has always had a passion for clay since she was little. Yumi saw a gap in the market lacking hand crafted ceramic jewellery which you can feel maker's love and warmth. Back then laser cut metal and acrylic jewelleries were popular.
Her signature Japanese inspired coloured clays, patterns, shapes and lustre decorated was created at the early stage of her business launch. Her half moon earrings finished in yellow gold which comes from Japanese tradition of moon ceremony made in 2011 has become and O design's signature style.
As of June 2017 Yumi has made a new home to Canberra, Australia's bush capital, she has been enjoying slow traffic free life style and regular bush walks. Minutes from her home studio, she can admire hopping Kangaroos and native birds along with beautiful mountain and farm views.
