While I always had a "thing" for different and unique floor coverings, my passion for floorcloths became my life's work the day I set my eyes on an old oilcloth made out of sails. The practicality of it amazed me...and the need for one (or more) of these in every household became immediately obvious.

That was when it all became clear. This form of rug could not only solve my personal issues of my rather large pets scraping up my wide pine floors, it could also be a fun way to show off my eclectic style, it could help my husbands daily struggle with asthma.....and cleaning the house would get so much easier, all while being able to represent a lost art which was so influential in our history of home decor. I was IN LOVE with these things!

7 years ago I started out by taking over our living room, dining room, and entryway (which my husband absolutely loved ;). It quickly became clear that more space was needed, which is why I moved to a larger studio space, that was much needed to accommodate the tables for the larger sized floorcloths (8'x10, 10'x12', runners. etc).

Every day I head to the studio with my 2 workers (whom have 4 legs and spend most of their time sleeping under the tables), my tea and my game plan for the day. Because of the steps involved with making the floorcloths I always have many rugs at all different stages on the tables. I can go from sewing a blank, to touching up a design, to applying the 4th coat of base paint, to applying the final wax finish, all on different rugs and all in one day. My studio is an ever-evolving cycle of production. I have my standard designs and sizes I am always painting, and the custom orders that could be in any shape, size and color.
