Announcement    hello produce lovers!

have you ever cut into a fruit or vegetable and marveled at the delicate intricacies? my latest project, artfood collective, does exactly that. these prints are made by studying whole or slicing open produce and creating a simple line drawing. I scan it, along with pieces of dupioni silk and other textures, and overlay the 2 in photoshop. I love to play around with compostion, color and texture.. nature is a beautiful thing!

over the last 3 years, I've taken a break from my previous collection of work (over at https://www.etsy.com/shop/mywireempire) after my last son came along. I planted garden beds and turned seeds into food. I learned to cook a lot of things from scratch. one could say that growing & creating food became my passion. nutrition education (especially for children) is of great interest to me as well. I believe that the key to bettering our overall health starts with this education. we can't expect children to make good food choices if we don't model it for them ourselves.

so, while I don't have the means to plant public gardens or teach growing & cooking workshops (especially in food deserts)-- both of which would be amazing!-- my vision is to connect people to food through art. very hands-on and crafty in nature, this is a fun, indirect approach in teaching the goodness of veggies!
