Welcome to my new shop!
I make polymer clay beads inspired by natural forms and my urban environment. Each bead is unique, created by impressions taken from found objects. These objects come from my collection of plant forms, drift wood and pebbles form Lake Michigan, fossils and shells, as well as copper etchings of digital patterns I've created ( I call these my digital "runes").

The beads in my shop banner have impressions of a walnut seed, crayfish claws, fish vertebrae, digital runes, swordfish skull bones, and weathered concrete. There's also a polymer beach pebble, which I love to make, and will be including in my listings.

I hope my beads will inspire you in your own work.

For lack of a better word...these are kind of funky...good funky. I like them and am sure one of my customers will feel the same. They were made well and I didn't have any trouble making them into earrings.

So lightweight and begging to be earrings. The way the colors are combined, the overall impression is of a rich coral. Can't wait to make these up!

I am a return customer so that is how much enjoy the artistry of Kristin's beads. This was a custom order (which I rarely do on Etsy) and while it took a little while, it was definitely worth the wait for smaller versions of the original beads. Kristin nailed it! Fractal fanatic

Hi,
Graphic designer turned metalsmith/enamelist, turned bead maker here.

I have always been fascinated with the forms and patterns of living things and with fractal patterns in nature. Clay is the perfect medium for capturing these patterns and I use my large collection of plant forms, rocks, shells, fossils, and artifacts to do so.

When I was metalsmithing, I created wave patterns and digital noise patterns in Photoshop which I etched onto metal. I still use these in my bead making. I call them digital runes.

I spend a lot of time looking at Mars rover and orbiter photos, so it's no surprise when some of my beads start looking like Martian rocks.

Many of my beads are fantasy fossils and relics. They are also often derived from something interesting found on walks in my urban environment, that I share with my faithful companion, Norman.

I hope my beads will inspire you in making your own creations.
