Environmentally friendly woodcraft, timber offcuts reborn into beautiful functional items.
Hi I'm Andrew, thanks for dropping in, I'm an Australian woodworker and sign maker, this is my Etsy shop where I aim to provide sustainable wood products from the mill directly to your home.
I've been passionate about timber, nature and making for as long as I can remember, from a very young age I was always asking Mum to save cereal boxes, cartons, straws, anything I could get my hands on to recycle into my latest toy or invention. Often this would be some kind of mechanical gadget, a space ship for one of my Star Wars figures or a castle or fort of some sort with working lift up draw bridge.
As a teenager, I started getting into woodwork and electronics and continue to work in both fields to this day. More so woodwork these days and I still love to dream up ways to re-use and recycle whatever scraps of timber I can get my hands on.
AUSTRALIAN SUSTAINABLE HARDWOODS
Living right next to the largest hardwood processing mill in the southern hemisphere has allowed me access to even more of this in the form of stair tread offcuts, flooring timber, countertops and mill ends.
The main species I use is locally grown Victorian Ash, a eucalyptus tree which is the tallest flowering tree in the world. These giants once covered most of Victoria and still grow in large pockets throughout our national parks and into the Alpine regions which provide a diverse range of beautifully figured grain variation and depth of colour shades.
I look forward to bringing more handcrafted items to market and providing you with the opportunity to purchase high-quality fine woodcraft in a sustainable way. My focus has always been on using traditional natural methods rather than mass production on a large scale.
I believe there is far greater value in a handcrafted object.
As they say in Japan It has a soul and a small part of the maker goes into each and every piece. It's important that true craftsmanship and hand-tool skills are preserved and passed on or they will become extinct as many already have.
