It all Started in the Backyard
Before I had 3/4 of an acre of plants to make my herb seasonings from scratch with no preservatives, I had a small 5 foot by 7 foot backyard garden. Even that small garden produced a surplus I made into herb tea and cooking seasonings for holiday gift giving. By 1992, I started Backyard Patch Herbs.
Traveling to local farmer's markets I slowly began to blend dried herbs into mixes because although my customers liked herbs, they were unsure how to use them without a bit of guidance. Now you can grab a mix, follow the recipe, and create wonders in your kitchen.
I started with a Dill Dip mix and an Italian Salad Dressing, and now make more than 40 spread, rub, dressing and dip mixes as well as seasonings, herbal teas, and seasonal specialty items all salt-free, gluten-free and preservative-free. You can still have tasty food and protect your health.
My little garden in the backyard was outgrown and I moved to a production garden of 3/4 of an acre where I grow most of what I use to create my blends. I still grow the herbs myself, blend all the creations by hand, and use only my own recipes to create my specialties. We never use pesticides on our plants or preservatives in our blends. We want the amazing flavor of the herbs to shine through!
