Born to be creative
Wie viele Kreative war ich mein ganzes Leben lang kreativ. Das ist es, was ich tue. Darin bin ich gut. Und so umarme ich es vollständig.
Mein erster Job war in einem sehr coolen lokalen Secondhand-Laden, wo meine Liebe zu alten Dingen wuchs.
Mein zweiter Job war in einem Kunsthandwerksladen, wo meine Liebe zum Kunsthandwerk wuchs.
Und mein dritter Job war in einem Perlenladen, wo meine Liebe zu Perlen völlig außer Kontrolle geriet.
Das waren keine Unfälle, ich habe diese Jobs für mich selbst gewählt, weil ich eine Vorliebe für sie hatte.
Aber ich wollte immer für mich selbst arbeiten. Ich wollte niemandem antworten (wer tut das?) und ich wollte etwas tun, das mir Spaß macht.
Und so tat ich es. Obwohl ich mich selbst beantworten muss und an manchen Tagen ist das schwieriger.
Ich liebe es absolut, was ich jeden Tag tun kann und dass ich es von meinem eigenen Raum aus tun kann. Ich bin sehr glücklich und sehr dankbar.
Als ich vor 14 Jahren nach Irland zog, brauchte ich etwas zu tun. Ich habe keines meiner bevorzugten Materialien oder Werkzeuge aus den Staaten mitgebracht, weil es viel war und das schien lächerlich.
Aber dann fand ich Etsy.
Und es war das Beste, was man finden konnte. Ich brachte sofort alle meine Vorräte vorbei und der Rest, wie sie sagen, ist Geschichte.
Ich liebe es, zu einer Gemeinschaft von Menschen zu gehören, genau wie ich. Sie bringen mich hierher. Und ich bekomme sie.
Ich habe einige der erstaunlichsten Menschen hier getroffen, darunter viele Kunden, die selbst ziemlich kreativ sind.
Ich bin ihnen allen dankbar.

Like many creatives, I have been creative all my life. It's what I do. It's what I'm good at. And so, I embrace it completely.
My first job was at a very cool local thrift store, where my love of old things grew.
My second job was at a craft store, where my love of crafts grew.
And my third job was at a bead store, where my love of beads got completely out of control.
These were not accidents, I chose these jobs for myself because I had a fondness for them.
But, I always wanted to work for myself. I didn't want to answer to anyone (who does?) and I wanted to do something that I enjoy.
And so I did. Though, I do have to answer to myself and some days that is harder.
I absolutely love what I get to do every day and that I get to do it from my own space. I am very lucky and very grateful.
When I moved to Ireland 14 years ago, I needed something to do. I did not bring any of my favoured materials or tools with me from the states because it was a lot and that seemed ridiculous.
But then, I found Etsy.
And it was the best thing to find. I immediately brought all my supplies over and the rest, as they say, is history.
I love belonging to a community of people just like myself. They get me here. And I get them.
I have met some of the most amazing people here, including many customers who are quite creative themselves.
