Art Inspired by Faith, Memory, and Travel
I’m Barbara German — artist, former middle school reading and art teacher, wife, mother, grandmother, traveler, and lifelong lover of creativity. Although painting began later in life for me, art has always been part of my story. Both of my grandmothers were painters, my mother is an artist and decorator, and my sister is a painter and potter. Creativity truly runs through generations of our family.
What began as watercolor sketching in travel journals slowly grew into a deeper creative practice centered around memory, faith, encouragement, and meaningful moments. Today, I create watercolor artwork, illustrated scripture pieces, devotional journals, and fine art prints designed to bring beauty, reflection, and hope into everyday spaces.
One of my most meaningful projects is The Redeemer Project — an illustrated Bible study workbook inspired by a poem written by Jessica Milligan. Through handwritten scripture, watercolor illustration, devotional reflections, and journaling spaces, the project was created to help people “write it on their hearts” and carry truth with them when they need it most.
I create from my home studio in Houston, Texas, and continue to carry my sketchbook wherever I travel. Whether it’s a scripture print, a custom watercolor memory painting, or a page from one of my journals, my hope is that each piece feels personal, thoughtful, and full of encouragement.
Thank you for visiting my studio and supporting handmade artwork.
