Custom and personalized orders
Currently, every item we offer is 100% customized and personalized. You are ordering a piece made from-scratch for you. If you are looking for a piece of art that does not fit any of the store listings, or if you would like to commission a work for commercial use, please contact art.bcstudios@gmail.com.
What is your return policy?
Because every item is 100% customized to your order, we cannot offer returns and exchanges once a print is shipped. That said, we DO want you to be completely satisfied! Part of this happens in the earliest stages of your order - we work with you to determine a style, color scheme, and overall design. We then ask you to approve roughs, so the overall layout of the piece is not a surprise. Before shipping, we ask you to approve the final art via e-mail. If something needs correcting, we can do so then. In worst case scenarios, we may rush-produce a brand new piece or settle on a full refund based on your opinion of the digital file. But once you approve your digital file and the print ships, all sales are final.
Can I use my art as part of a sign or logo, or hang it in my place of business?
Generally, no. You are not purchasing the copyright for your original art, and usage rights are granted for personal use only. This means the piece is intended for non-commercial use in a private setting. If the art is to be resold, published, exhibited, or in any way displayed in a way that will make money for you or a third party, additional usage rights must be negotiated with BC Studios. This includes simple display in, for example, a bar, restaurant or office common area. All artwork copyright © Bill Castonzo, all rights reserved. Thanks for respecting the time and skill that goes into your art!
Do you offer more affordable options?
Some sellers on Etsy and elsewhere offer "custom" caricatures or comic book art at very low prices. This is almost always because their "custom" work is pre-fabricated or mass-produced. For example, their only from-scratch element may be a single face, and often that likeness is an awkward photo manipulation.
By contrast, every element of a BC Studios piece is drawn and colored custom, by hand, to be 100% unique to your order. We strive to provide frame-worthy, one-of-a-kind pieces. Custom art is similar to any specialized trade, be it woodworking or engineering - you pay for expertise and the time it takes to get the job done. Our work is done with a whole lot of tender loving care, and we know you'll love the end result.
What kind of background characters can I include in my piece? Does it have to be superheroes?
Literally anyone or anything. Really! As long as we can find reference images of this person, place or thing, we can include it. Singers, actors, cereal box mascots - whatever you want to include, we'll make it work.
Keep in mind, any character you want drawn in the more detailed, realistic, photo-referenced style of your main subject will be charged as an extra portrait, even if it's, say, Arnold Schwarzenegger and not a member of your own family. Background characters are the simple, smaller cartoons seen in the sample artwork.
But again, for anything or anyone on your mind - just ask! It's a collaborative process and we can usually accommodate your request.
