Sharing my love of oysters one oyster at a time!
I opened my Etsy shop in 2007. I was a glass bead (lampwork) artist and sold my beads on Etsy through 2021. Prior to opening my Etsy shop I sold my glass beads locally in South Carolina and online on eBay under the username Glassbeadsbybeth. In my most recent years as a lampwork artist I focused on Pet Memorial Beads. I made beads with the cremains of loved pets encased within the layers of glass. I even did Match Your Pet Memorial Beads which were very popular.
Twenty years of the spinning motion required for bead making took a toll on my hands, the strict regulations for shipping cremains and the need for shared workspace with my husband all led to my decision to give up bead making in the summer of 2021.
I knew I would find something else crafty to do which led me to Oyster Shell Ornaments. I love that each oyster shell is unique. Different shapes, sizes, colors and textures. Making Oyster Shell ornaments requires less space and equipment. I also like that it is a more portable craft. Instead of being upstairs alone in my studio making glass beads behind a torch with an oxygen concentrator and exhaust fan running I am able to bring my craft downstairs at night and enjoy TV time with my husband while accomplishing a little bit at the same time. Living on the Gulf Coast in a coastal community I have an abundance of oyster shells and beach shells available to me as well as a market for selling my ornaments year round to tourists.
Check out my previous feedback. I take pride in my work and love sharing my talents with others.
