Well, the story about how I got started may seem a little cliche'. Heck, it IS cliche', but, it's still important to share. I thought about making up some super wacky and interesting fairy-tale, but being honest will shed more genuine light on why I choose to open my shop.

In 2008 my mother in law was diagnosed with colon cancer. It was quite shocking to hear and I'm not really one of those who's good with words. So I wanted to come up with a way for friends and family to show support for her while she was fighting against the nasty sickness. I thought about ordering a bunch of those rubber cancer bracelets and just couldn't picture her wearing one; she's far too stylish for that. I then though, "Hey, why not make a pretty support bracelet?". Friends and family bought over 100 of the bracelets I had been making and man did my fingers hurt from that hard work! In the end it was all worth it though as we were able to donate the proceeds from the bracelets to the American Cancer Society. The good news is that after about a year of treatments my mother in law is cancer free! I also found a new passion for making jewelry.

Since then I have been learning new techniques and going through different spurts of styles. I do this strictly for fun, which means I would love to have it as a job someday. One can only hope, right?
