Note from shop owner Happy summer, dear Friends. Be safe, be in beauty as much as possible.
I am teaching swim this summer in our open waters around the Village of Greenport, NY (and in quite a few pools) so I am temporarily closing shop until the end of August. Once all the kids go back to school, first week of September, I will reopen. Please visit BuoyantSea.com if you would like to join us for the free Village public swim! Thank you , best to you all!--Christina

About

I love ships!

I started on a steel schooner in NYHarbor, and learned much from the women and men who know how to fix, maintain and sail the boats. You can’t work on a boat and not learn.

I’ve worked on little harbor work boats to busy passenger vessels to huge party cruisers, and it is the camaraderie of crew and the marine community that I love. Sea stories are the best–-whether they are true or not.

I love to draw outdoors, by the ship, preferring that than to drawing from photographs. Mariners tend to be quite proud of their vessels while they are working on one. I think ships are beautiful: from noble traditional sailing vessels to little workboats or ferries. I’ve not done much blue water sailing because: I get sea sick, alas, I do.

But a so-so day on NYHarbor is better than a good day at the office, so you will find me somewhere out there!

These prints are from original pen and ink watercolors. My blog is at http://bowsprite.wordpress.com/; you can also find more nautical goods on bowsprite.com.
Thank you for visiting! Christina
