Castoffs and Comics. Twisted. Decoupaged. Reinvented.
I am Briggy. Brig. BK. BK the Younger. Mama B. Brigitta. Tia Gitta to my nephews. Ms. Kral to my high school English students. Each nickname represents the person who gave it to me, a time period, a memory, a story, and I am a storyteller. Each item (or item type) on BrigaBauble has a story. Should you have the time and the inclination, lend me your ear and I’ll reveal all. For now, though, the story behind BrigaBauble on Etsy.
BrigaBauble came to be because I am terrible at rest and recovery. The year was…2007 I believe. I was out of books I wanted to read and house-ridden recovering from minor surgery that felt major. Desperate to fill the time between A-Team™ and Seinfeld™ reruns, I developed a massive arts and crafts habit that I’ve never been able to kick (or even tried to for that matter).
What began with designing and creating a necklace just to see if I could quickly evolved into a focus on jewelry handcrafted from recycled and upcycled goods, an overwhelming desire to decoupage everything in sight—usually with recycled comic book images, a foray into forging unique lamps and lighting, a method for overcoming my childhood guilt over decapitating Barbie™ after Barbie by finding multiple uses for Barbie parts (rings, wine stoppers, a lamp…), a desire to rekindle my long-lost knitting skills so I could send friends personally knitted gifts like I once had, and a complete inability to resist trying new techniques, materials, ideas, etc.
Essentially, my inability to not create whatever pops into my mind is your ever-evolving online shopping pleasure BrigaBauble on Etsy.
