About

Keeping the blacksmithing tradition alive.

I went down to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina on a whim back in 2011 to do a work/study at the John C. Campbell Folk School. I came out of that wonderful experience nine weeks later with a set of basic blacksmithing skills and a fire to pursue it as a craft.

I bought a small propane forge and a piece of railroad track for an anvil and started creating. Brown County Forge here on Etsy is a showcase of the things I've done and what I create as I move forward.

If you'd like to read more about the process of setting up a blacksmith shop, I laid out the journey at http://diyblacksmith.blogspot.com.

I hope you enjoy the shop. Please send me a message any time.

    Owner

Hi there! My name's Terran and I'm the blacksmith at Brown County Forge. In addition to forging rustic goods for the home, I teach blacksmithing classes and provide resources for blacksmithing DIYers. Thanks for having a look around.

Production partners

  • Metal Fabricator/Plasma Cutting

    Avon, MN

I use a metal fabricator with heavy-duty metal cutting abilities to cut the initial shape of some pieces. I then add forged elements, textures, and finishes.

  • Plasmacutting Shop

    Indianapolis, IN

A locally owned and operated shop that provides metal cutting services.

Welcome to Brown County Forge on Etsy. I focus primarily on decorative and functional hardware for the home. Everything is hand-forged with hammer and anvil.

Each item, whether it's part of a set or its own piece, has its own individual character. That character is a result of each hammer blow, twist, and curl I make.

If you get inspired and don't see something you'd like, send me a message. I'd be happy to create something custom with you.
