Announcement   Made in the CoIorado forest! In my one-person shop I construct bags, cases, woodshop aprons and tool rolls using natural, sturdy materials. I choose waxed and plain canvas, raw denim, and fine wool fabrics (but no leather) for their intrinsic, authentic beauty. Designs come from classic sewn equipment such as the sailor's ditty bag, the carpenter's or blacksmith's tool roll, and the incredible array of military canvas goods produced by factories full of working women for the war effort of World War II. Due to my busy schedule, I am not able to design or build custom items.

Everything I was expecting and more. Both the tool roll and apron are of the highest quality and something I have been looking for ages but hadn't found. Will definitely be back in the future and maybe even ask for a bespoke design😊 many thanks!!

I have needs for a tote of this size: hauling Travel gear, storing gear kits, transporting gifts, storing quilts, laundry, lightweight exercise equipment. The list is endless. I'm glad Janet makes these bags now; I trust her designs and workmanship. The material is durable; I've already field tested with gear, with Nutmeg (dog), and no stress points budged. I finally bought a new bag that had the new logo! Fast shipping well wrapped inside and no hidden damages in-transit. Thank you Janet for another awesome gear bag!

About

Practicality and good looks

I'm a bit of a tomboy, with a degree in geology/geography. I've ridden motorcycles, been a mapmaker, contemplated becoming a camp cook, built a straw-bale house and a log house, worked in a greenhouse. I ride a recumbent trike and am thinking of taking flying lessons. Frilly doesn't suit me. The fabrics I choose are meant to proudly and confidently go outside.

Frequently I get ideas from canvas gear that survives from World War II. They didn't use plastic in those days so I resist it in my own designs.

I don't outsource any of my design or production. My husband John assists with critiques and with setting up my equipment. A significant portion of my supplies comes from other Etsy sellers.

Frequently asked questions

Wholesale availability

I do not wholesale my items.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All orders are wrapped informally with kraft paper and tied with red twine.

Care instructions

Waxed canvas should never be washed because that will remove the wax. Instead, hose it off, damp wipe it, vacuum it, or brush it. Eventually the wax will become worn and should be reapplied (a simple process).

Raw denim can be hand-washed with a mild soap such as shampoo, rinsed well, and hung to air-dry. It is sanforized so it will shrink only minimally.

Sales tax

Colorado buyers will pay 2.9% sales tax, and those living in Pueblo County will pay an additional 1% sales tax.
