My friend once told me...."Take what you LOVE and go for it!" I did just that and created CatNipPurses.
I started CatNipPurses in 2009. I had just given up on shopping for purses with not enough pockets or pockets in the wrong place. This is when I had an idea. I had tons of beautiful fabric sitting around; why couldn’t I make my own purse. I took out the scissors and an old brown paper bag to start making patterns. After my patterns were cut I started picking out the fabrics I wanted to use and began to slowly sew them together; before I knew it I had a purse. I could not wait to show my friends and family. The reaction from them could not have been better. They all wanted one! Then all of their friends wanted one and my business was born.
After realizes how popular my purses were becoming I decided I needed some help in making them; this is when I got my mother involved. She had been a seamstress for many years and is the one who taught me the love of sewing. I had no doubt she would be my best business partner. As soon as I asked her for help she started looking at QVC and HSN for more ideas and styles for us to create. My mother was never fond of purses prior to this because of their lack of pockets, but now she can’t stop looking for new patterns and ideas. I have created a monster.
The reason behind the name CatNipPurses is how crazy I have seen women react to them. I have had to break women apart fighting over them at conventions; on numerous occasions I have had women follow me through stores asking where they can get a purse like mine. It’s like women can smell the purse, just like cats can smell catnip.
During our time in business we have had so many great adventures and have met many wonderful people. All the people we meet help give us new ideas and keeps our creativity flowing. The possibilities are only limited by our imaginations.
I have two stores/shops, one in Oregon and one in California. Depending on the location of the purse you purchased will determine where your purse is shipped from.
Purse styles and sizes below:
1. Crossbody: Has longer, adjustable, stap, and is ususlly displayed as a shoulder style. SMALL (8"^9"ish) MED (10"^11"ish)
2. Shoulder Purse: (Stand Up) made with 2 handle straps, and sometimes a crossbody strap.
Size : Med, east, west, (9"^12 up to 11"^13") Large (12"^14" to 16"ish).
our stand up purses are very popular.
3. Carriers: Referred to as diper bags, carriers, overnite bags.
Size: (12" ^ 17" amybe more)
4. Dog-E-Carriers: we have a few purses for toting our "FURRY FRIENDS" most are sizes
(12"^17"^6")....We will consider size, and fabric color requests....these ARE washable.
