Joy-fueled ceramics for a joy-filled life
Hello! I’m Cherie, a potter, self-taught. Since my very first turn at the potter’s wheel in 1994, I’ve wholeheartedly followed my passion for clay. I find inspiration in nature, exploring organic shapes, earthy colors, patterns, and textures while creating my ceramics.
All of my pottery and glazes are made by me in my home studio using both my potter's wheel and hand building methods. I prepare my glazes from scratch following established recipes. I rely on nature's oxides to develop the calming earth tones that bring my clay surfaces to life. Pottery is twice-fired in oxidation (my electric kiln) to 2,230 degrees Fahrenheit, turning clay and glazes into long-lasting, ceramic treasures.
Studio life is balanced with my loves outside of the studio... family and friends, volunteering locally, assisting at my day job (Firebird Foundation for Anthropological Research), and teaching clay. Wherever I am, I can often be found with a favorite mug in hand. Using my handmade pottery brings me a smile. I hope my ceramics radiate the same joy for you, and become a treasured part of your everyday.
