About

The science of mechanical and industrial arts fused with old school craftsmanship to create modern day accessories.

Dylan Johnson is an artist from Denver, CO who has recently graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a concentration in Jewelry/Metalsmithing and a minor in Industrial Design. Dylan first sought out a degree in Industrial Design, but as he progressed through the Industrial Design program he felt that it was not quite the right fit for him – something was missing. During this pivotal time Dylan was taking an elective Jewelry 1 course and knew that this was his calling. The Industrial Design courses were not a waste by any means and actually crossed over well into the Jewelry design work Dylan was doing.

Recently he received the Nagel Art Thesis award for his thesis work “The Edge of Chaos” and received a Special Congressional Recognition Certificate in 2011 for a charitable art contribution to the Asian Pacific Development Center. Dylan’s work has been published in the prestigious book by juror’s Marthe Le Van and Bruce Metcalf, 500 Rings: New Directions in Art Jewelry from Lark publications. His artwork has been showcased in several juried gallery shows in Denver including Spark Gallery, Core New Art Space, and Edge Gallery.

Dylan believes in the spirit of old style craftsmanship combined with today's cutting edge technology and specialty finishing techniques to create works of art that blur the lines of design through the ages. While Dylan is influenced by the Art Nouveau movement of the late 19th century he doesn’t simply wish to copy from that era, but to combine old ideas with new and go in different directions that create an entirely new movement for this millennium.
