Hand Made from Start to Finish...
For as long as she can remember, all Emily ever wanted to do was draw, paint and create. Charming Creatures is her way of expressing her creative urge to make beautiful things. Emily relishes the fact that each one of her ornaments or hanging decorations are made with the greatest care and a little piece of her heart goes into each one.
The natural world gives her an abundance of inspiration for her work, which is why nearly all her models are based on animals. Making plasticine models from a young age, sat at her grandparent's kitchen table was where it all began. And walks in the woods with her family allowed her to take in the beauty of the natural world and explore its wonders.
Emily was often in trouble for secretly keeping frogs, newts, snails and the odd baby bird in her bedroom as a child. And although her fascination for wildlife has never gone away, nowadays she limits herself to keeping only canaries, quails and doves, instead of frogs and snails.
Emily's favourite animals are birds, the wild creature that is the most accessible to our eyes and ears. We feed them and tame them and think we know them... and yet they inhabit a world which is really rather mysterious.
