Earthy. Eclectic. Elegant.
CuLove Designs began as an unexpected muse-driven midlife burst of creativity. I'm a former broadcast journalist, radio news anchor, 1970s rock-n-roll DJ, itinerant faire/festival storyteller, wordsmith and a published professional writer. Designing and making jewelry was NOT in my skill set. It just happened.
Thanks to several years of intensive "hands on" formal training at the Kirk Newman Art School/Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, my creative process now includes a variety of hand fabricating metalsmith techniques. I primarily work with copper and jewelers' brass, with silver accents. Focus elements include: amazonite, amethyst, lapis, & jaspers, plus the natural multi-color mix of amazonite with tourmaline, albite and quartz. Vintage or modern Czech glass, shells and random shiny bits also find their way into my creations. I love to upcycle vintage metal pieces and make something NEW out of old copper (i.e. PENNIES).

My work is currently showcased at Michigan artisan events and occasionally in specialty consignment shops. I'm a native Michigander, growing up in the heart of Iron and Copper country in the Upper Peninsula, now based near Kalamazoo. Thanks for visiting my Etsy space!
