Sharing my work with the world
I learned the joys of telling a story and writing early in life. I remember the first (and only) serial I wrote was in fourth grade and told the saga of two owls (Sam and David by name) that lived in a tree. The tree had a secret tunnel in it that curved around and around inside the tree. When Sam and Dave followed the tunnel, they discovered that it opened up in their coat closet in their living room. Okay, not original, but I was only 9 years old.
I went on from there to be "published" in my sixth-grade class's book of poetry and then went on a sabbatical until I returned to college while in my late 20s to early 30s. My writing became much more prolific, as I was studying to get my Bachelor's in History, with a minor in English. Between those two courses of study, I wrote and wrote and wrote. I took creative writing courses and had a piece published in the Two-Year College Association-Southeast Journal in the fall of 2001.
In the meantime, I started several novels that I never finished, and am still working on to this day.
In the summer of 2016, I finally self-published my first book, which was illustrated with the help of my kids.
Since 2016, I have written, illustrated and self-published two more books, and am still working on more.
Between writing times, I love painting, drawing, sketching, and have decided that it is time to share my work with the world.
