I've been making and selling baby booties since I was in high school, that would be what, 2 years ago? ;) I crochet to relieve social anxiety, but it also gives me the opportunity to earn a little extra money (and who doesn't need that?) and create things that make people happy. I've added dishcloths and dish scrubbers to the mix. They were the original products that I started selling at the Cache Valley Gardeners' Market.

Here's the story behind the dishcloths. I was always looking for unusual yarn, and I was pregnant with my third child and wanted to make him a blanket. I found a yarn called FoxFibre that was a naturally colored organic cotton. I spent my entire allowance on it, and made him a blanket, but there was a whole lot left and I didn't know what to do with it. I thought people at the Gardeners' Market might be interested in stuff made from it, so I made dishcloths and oven mitts. I opened a booth at the market and the dishcloths sold, so I made some more. When I sold out of certain colors, people asked for more. I had already made back my allowance money, so I bought some more yarn and made more. By September of that year I realized that I was in business, and made it official. I named my business "Curious Workmanship" after a verse from the Book of Mormon, Ether 10:27, "And they did work all manner of work of exceedingly curious workmanship."

Since then, Curious Workmanship has sold whatever it's pleased me to make, including hats, tie-dye, and scarves as well as the baby booties and dishcloths that are my bread and butter. I had to shut down the shop in early 2014 as I was going through a divorce and a move. But I'm back, and I'm ready to fill those orders! ...that is, until school starts again.
