Conceptual Purging of Industrial Sins
Willkommen! Ich bin Mihaela – die Leute nennen mich Michelle. Früher war ich als Modedesignerin, Visagistin und Modestylistin im "Fast Fashion"-System tätig. Jetzt betrachte ich mich als Handwerker. Für mich ist das eine Frage der Identität – meine, die nicht in der Industrie verloren geht, sondern spontan auf das Material übergeht, und ihre – die transformiert, neu erfunden wird, anstatt sich in Abfall zu verwandeln. Deshalb arbeite ich mit Leder und lasse mich von seiner Materialität, seinen Geschichten, aber auch seinen Unvollkommenheiten inspirieren.
Jedes Stück erfüllt mindestens drei der ECO-Kriterien:
- Es wird ethisch mit Respekt für Mensch und Umwelt produziert
- Es ist vollständig hausgemacht mit handwerklichen / handwerklichen Fähigkeiten - Leder- oder Stoffbehandlungen (Schneiden, Altern oder Distressen, Aushärten oder Schälen, Malen usw.) sind handgefertigt. Wo es möglich ist, sind auch die Stiche. Auch die Branding- und Merchandising-Materialien sind größtenteils handgefertigt.
- Es wird ganz oder teilweise recycelt und besteht daher aus Lederresten des industriellen Modedesignprozesses, der sonst als Abfall betrachtet wird.
Welcome! I'm Mihaela – people call me Michelle. Formerly I was involved in the "Fast Fashion" system as fashion designer, make-up artist and fashion stylist. Now I consider myself an artisan. For me, this is a matter of identity – mine, which doesn't get lost into industry but spontaneously transfer onto the material, and theirs - which is transformed, reinvented rather than turn into waste. Therefore I work with leather letting myself inspired by its materiality, its stories but also its imperfections.
Each piece complies with at least three of the ECO criterias:
- It's ethically produced with respect for people and the environment
- it's entirely homemade using craft/artisan skills - leather or fabric treatments (cutting, ageing or distressing, hardening or skiving, painting, etc) are handmade. Where it's possible so are the stitches. Also the branding and merchandising materials are mostly handmade.
- it's entirely or partialy recycled therefore made of leather leftovers of the industrial fashion design process otherwise considered waste.
