About

Hand Made Goods for the Adventurous Spirit

Dear Summit's leather goods are designed with adventurous folk in mind - sturdy and timeless, ready for rugged mountain trails and cozy coffee shops, alike!

Deanna began to work with leather by creating softcover journals and sketchbooks in early 2009. With much hard work, she has developed methods and skills to create leather books which are not only timeless and beautiful, but also strong and durable.

Throughout the entire bookbinding process, Deanna stays true to traditional methods by using only hand tools - awl, needle, bone folder, ruler. She uses as many natural and recycled materials as possible, keeping sustainability and environmental/ethical responsibility in mind. The leather is sourced and produced in the USA, where the tanning industry is well regulated to reduce the environmental impact.

Dear Summit is also a socially-conscious brand. A portion of every purchase from Dear Summit is donated to help release children across the globe from poverty by supporting the work of the non-profit, Compassion International.

In addition to bookbinding and design, Deanna loves roaming in wild places, reading stories of adventures new and old, and exploring new creative processes.
