Welcome from the DeRohan family!
Rather than boring you with a picture-esk, sappy back story to describe the birth of "derohanDmade", we'll just list a few things below, rapid-fire style, to give ya a glimpse into our lives and projects:
- Garage or Shop? It's an ongoing battle in our household weather the workspace, where projects are built, should be referred to as a "garage", or "the shop". Technically, it's a single-car garage. In this garage are bikes, scooters, spare sprinkler parts, a small portable charcoal grill for tailgating, and a storage box full of CDs from the 90's. But aside from being an average suburbia garage, there are also dedicated woodworking tools. And it's the space where projects are born.
- Like most of yours, our lives are crazy-busy. We're always telling ourselves, "if we can just get through ___________, things will settle down after that!". But that date seems elusive, and we're OK with that. With this limited time, our projects are "small batch". You typically won't find more than 1 or 2 of each item created in our store!
- 90% of the items you'll see listed in our store were created during nap-time on the weekend... The only thing better would be if I was referring to my OWN nap time...
- Our 5-year-old LOVES to help in "the shop". She has a handbuilt pink workbench in the corner, and finds every excuse to wear her pink ear-muffs and safety glasses. When she's not using her mini (pink) hammer to nail scrap pieces of wood to the top of her workbench, she's also the master "glue bottler" and "oiler" for most projects. For someone who melts down at the first spek of mud on her toe, she has no problem dunking her hands in beeswax oil and making finger-paint art as we apply finish to our projects.
