Although I grew up in Southern California, I never knew much about my Mexican heritage. As a child, I fondly remember my grandmother and mother speaking Spanish in the kitchen while preparing delicious homemade Mexican dishes. My mother, a talented and creative artist, played a big role in sparking my love for art, animals, and nature. From a young age, I knew I wanted to be an artist. In 1974, I followed that passion to The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, where I began my career as a graphic designer and illustrator.

Fast forward 37 years, and it was time to retire from my design studio. My wife Barb and I were ready for a new creative adventure, and that’s when we discovered Etsy. I had always wanted to connect more deeply with my Spanish roots, so I began exploring Mexican folk art, and that's how DexMex was born. Over time, our designs have evolved into a vibrant and eclectic mix, incorporating everything from mid-century modern to vintage engravings, advertising typography, and global influences.

We handle every aspect of our prints—designing, overseeing print production, packaging, and shipping them ourselves.

All our prints are printed by a top commercial printing company in the USA.
