Announcement   Welcome to our shop. The three snow storms last month(very unusual for our region) gave us time for reflection, design and . . . sewing! It also made us long for summer weather.

As we rearrange listings in our shop to make them easier for you to find and identify, new items are being added. Most will have variations of colors and/or styles so be sure to view all the photos before making your selection. Besides selling on Etsy, Jenn and I try to sell at one doll show each year. The location of our next show will be announced at a future time.

Dolls of Mine Designs continues to create unique fabric patterns scaled for our dolls. Some of our own fabric designs are used to satisfy the unique needs of customers. Other designs are used in our doll clothing, making the outfits as unique as many dolls are. We hope you enjoy browsing in our shop.

About

A Mother and Daughter Team

When we were introduced to our first BJD, Jenn and I were already sewing for fashion dolls. At that time, mostly doll manufacturers were sewing clothing specifically for ball-jointed dolls, but collectors purchased our fashion doll clothing for their BJDs. We've come a long way from those early years and now have our own modest collection of BJDs, from 20cm to 70cm, as models in our shop. Galatia gets top billing because she was the first, a full-choice system from Volks.

Jenn and I both design, draft patterns and sew. We consult on styles and fabrics and are especially careful to use colorfast materials, hand testing each fabric. We love playing with the dolls and placing them in scenes for photo ops. Sometimes our prop collection grows beyond measure and we have to scale back. But our focus is always on the doll clothing with fine details and clothing that fits well. Each doll is entitled to have their own style.

We both continue to learn and hone our skills as reflected in our ever-changing shop inventory. Sometimes, our circumstances allow us to attend doll shows. It's amazing to see the variety of BJDs there are and to learn what types of clothing collectors would like to have for their dolls. Inspiration for our clothing designs is often drawn from human clothing we would like to wear but we think actually looks better on the dolls. Further inspiration comes from things we love, people we meet and the beautiful part of the world around us.

As evidence of her creativity, in 2016, Jenn was honored to receive an Industry's Choice Diamond Award of Excellence, sponsored by DOLLS Magazine in the Doll Clothing category.

We expand our staff of models as our budget allows. At times, it seems we sew and sell clothing only to have more models. After sewing for dolls so many years, it only seemed natural to design a doll of our own. And that is in the works. We hope to debut it in early0 2019, if not before.

What else is new? Since it has been difficult to find fabric in the styles and types we want for our dolls, we now design our own fabric. It is digitally printed at a factory with an eco-friendly process and colorfast. So, beginning in the summer of 2018, you will see new doll clothing styles from Dolls of Mine featuring new fabrics not found anywhere else in the world. Yes, sewing is a passion!

Shop members

  • Marie

    Owner, Seamstress, Photographer

It seems I've been sewing, knitting and crafting most of my life. Drafting patterns and constructing doll clothing is an enjoyable distraction. In 2018 I was honored to receive an Industry's Choice Award for doll clothing sponsored by DOLLS magazine.

  • Jenn (Jyrus)

    Assistant, Designer, Seamstress

My passion for sewing began in my early childhood and never left. I learned to sew from my mom. My love for sewing for dolls returned with my first BJD purchase in 2007. In 2016, I was honored to receive an Industry's Choice Award sponsored by DOLLS.

  • Galatea

    Model, Muse

There are several models in our shop, but Galatea gets top billing; she has seniority, being requested directly from VOLKS in Torrance, CA. Though ageless, She has the typical teenage personality, picky about what she wears, but continues to inspire.

  • Terra (TC)

    Model

TC is one of our earliest models from Custom House with a pretty face. She is adventurous and her moods change frequently as does her clothing style. With a 14cm waist, she is not a slim MSD, but she's up for changes in scenery and knows how to pose.

  • Jon

    Companion To TC, Model

Jon, guardian and companion to TC, also came from Custom House on the same plane. He and TC share adventures and neither one ever complains about the clothing or props during their photo sessions. Formerly Yondu, Jon wasn't phased by his name change.

  • Sachiko

    Delicate Model

Sachiko is a rescue and, as such, has a delicate nature. So she is treated tenderly. Still, she's up for the numerous wardrobe changes and looks forward to finding more anime clothing in her closet. She also expects to find more pairs of shoes there.

  • Kirya

    Model

Glenna, from Doll Stories, sculpted a superb doll in Kirya, a 55 cm BJD with a unique and lovely body shape. Our two versions of Kirya, one elf and one normal human, often take us in different directions to challenge our drafting and design talents.

  • FeePle 65

    Model

After acquiring her FeePle 65 from Fairyland, Jenn was excited to design unique clothing for her size. She's a big girl and we know she enjoys her role as model in our shop.

  • Our Littles

    Models

These cuties range in size from our Luts 16cm Tiny Delf to our 5-Star 29cm. Fairyland's 25 cm LittleFee and Custom House Ange at 26cm are able to share the same outfits. All are ball-jointed dolls and we love working with their diminutive sizes.

  • MiniFee BJDs

    Models

Our Fairyland MiniFees fit the slender 1/4 scale BJD category. MiniFee can sometimes wear clothes designed for Ellowyne Wilde, a 16-inch fashion doll, and vise versa.

  • Trendy

    Model

Trendy is a 46 cm ball-jointed doll created by Bo Bergemann. And we love her posing ability. As a little girl doll, it's fun to design new outfits for her alone. However, she can share some tops with Kirya as their upper torsos are close in size.

Additional policies and FAQs
If you have a particular request, let us know which doll you have first when you contact us. We prefer to sew for models we already have because measurements can vary greatly, depending on the manufacturer. We must be confident that we can produce something you will like before accepting a commission. Since there are only two of us sewing in the shop, and each of us has our own forte, we accept large scale projects only if we feel qualified and have adequate time to meet any deadline proposed.
