I first started the Dude Maintain store to sell handprinted t-shirts and stompbox foot switches. I'm working to add the items I make under the Milkcrate Salvage name - my salvaged lumber frames, pen cups, album ledges, photo holders, etc. I'll also get my photography up on here as well.

Milkcrate Salvage. My attraction to interesting old stuff started in college and has been a constant theme in my life ever since. A stint working in a junk store here in Albany in the late 90's and then managing an architectural salvage warehouse further fueled that interest. My thing has always been the lure of authenticity. So when I make pieces from old lumber it all centers around keeping the wood as authentic as possible - no sanding the edges, no bullshit creating of a "distressed look", no skip-planing. All the lumber I use I salvaged myself from dumpster, demo sites and trash piles in and around Albany, NY. I select each section of wood carefully with the goal of highlighting the beauty of the nail holes, blemishes, lathe lines, hammer dings, gnarred knots etc.
