Welcome to our colorful world of stationery&whatnot. Lifestyle guru and noted author, Kalyn Johnson Chandler, is the founder and creative force behind effie’s paper. Although she’d be lost without her iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro, Kalyn sends hand-written notes to friends and loved-ones on a weekly basis. “I’m as big a fan of email and IM’ing as the next Swarovski covered iPhone-toting hipster . . . But, truth be told, I’m a paper girl. Call me old-fashioned, but there’s something about opening my mailbox and finding a handwritten note, thank you or otherwise, that trumps an email or text message any day of the week!” says Kalyn.
Stationery is a part of Kalyn’s DNA, not only was it a childhood obsession – her grandmother and company namesake, Mrs. Effie Hayes, who worked at Michigan’s Mitchell’s Greeting Card Company many years ago, was the one who introduced Kalyn to the notion of having her own personal stash of stationery for just about any occasion. Effie's Paper is a lifestyle brand presenting cool and on-trend accessories for fun at work, stylish travel and a chic daily life.
We believe that from the door to her desk, a woman should be surrounded by pretty things that make her heart leap! Our products are a unique mix of casual elegance, motivation and social conversation that make using them fun and engaging. Although named after Kalyn’s grandmother, Effie’s Paper::Stationery&Whatnot is not your grandmother’s lifestyle brand!
Our products reflect our belief that the future is female and is being shaped by the power of Black Girl Magic! I wanted our products to appeal to a variety of women. I" wanted to create a lifestyle brand that celebrates and embraces difference within a group of like-minded women," said Kalyn. Our Girl Gang is fierce, loyal and oh so FAB. Our products are perfect for busy moms, professionals and social butterflies! Here at effie's paper we make awesome stationery, cheeky notebooks and notepads, fun travel mugs and lots of other pretty paper and desk products. Our products will make your work space prettier and are great to give as gifts! All of our products are designed in-house by Kalyn, a self-taught graphic designer. Who's Effie? Effie was Kalyn's maternal grandmother who believed a lady should have the perfect shade of red lipstick, write a wicked thank you note and always carry a hanky in her pocketbook. (And yes, Kalyn has followed this advice all of her life and it's served her well!). So, it only seemed fitting to Kalyn that she name her stationery company after her gran. "I know she's up in heaven just tickled pink that her legacy lives on."
