Hypotenuse Studios werd opgericht door Caroline Bowen, een voormalige kunst major die majors overstapte naar natuurkunde met plannen om naar de grad school voor meteorologie te gaan, ondanks dat ze helemaal onderaan moest beginnen met college algebra. Onderweg werd ze zelf verliefd op wiskunde en natuurkunde en veranderde ze van carrièreplannen om de educatieve visuele hulpmiddelen te maken die ze in de wereld wilde zien. Sinds ze in 2016 afstudeerde aan de Universiteit van Tennessee, Knoxville, met haar bachelors in academische natuurkunde en wiskunde, heeft ze zich volledig gewijd aan het opzetten van een carrière als beeldhouwster terwijl ze parttime in een machinewerkplaats werkte. Haar meest gebruikte media zijn alcoholinkt, Mylar plastic film, cardstock, acryl staaf, 3D-geprint PLA, borduurfloss en kralen.
Hypotenuse Studios was founded by Caroline Bowen, a former art major who switched majors to physics with plans to go to grad school for meteorology, despite having to start all the way at the bottom with college algebra. Along the way, she fell in love with math and physics in their own right and switched career plans to creating the educational visual aids she wanted to see in the world. Since graduating in 2016 from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with her bachelors in academic physics and math, she has devoted herself fully to establishing a career as a sculptress while working part time in a machine shop. Her most frequently used media include alcohol ink, Mylar plastic film, cardstock, acrylic rod, 3D printed PLA, embroidery floss, and beads.
