For the Love of the Work
I'm in my forties, and I went to college first at a very tiny liberal arts school in the Green Mountains of Vermont before returning to my hometown to finish at Penn State University with a degree in philosophy. I later returned to Penn State again to learn metalsmithing. After 30 years in Pennsylania, I moved to North Carolina and absolutely fell in love. I currently maintain a home in coastal NC and central PA.
I like creating art from the seemingly lifeless, immovable material that is metal, and I love that jewelry is, for many people (including me), an accessory that can be meaningful as well as beautiful. Metalsmithing is one of my greatest passions. It has given meaning, satisfaction, escape and a sense of productivity to my life. Etsy has made it possible for me to do this work; work that isn't second best, isn't a compromise I've made based on my health, but is in fact what I've known for most of my life was my dream career. Having this opportunity has been incredibly enriching.
