My life has been an interesting journey of many shades. My great grandparents migrated to Indo Pak sub-continent from the Arab and Afghanistan/Persian world, and I migrated to United States many moons ago to finish the quote of my life….and they lived happily ever after.
Bringing with me lavish intricate remnants of my rich exotic cultural heritage… ikat chikankari,suzani, rilli,gota work, phulkari,sindhi kaam, shisha work, block print, ajrak tie and dye and much more to introduce them to my children and family in the western world. I tried to incorporate them in my artwork too…. but somehow was unable to impress my children with my ethnic designs. For they requested me minimal sleek modern art with abstract designs. I was reluctant in the beginning for I was more of a traditional artist who enjoyed doing complexed arabesque design…But then out of love for them I experimented with modern art and throughly enjoyed fusing them both the traditional ethnic pattern and modern art. And thus, this style evolved as my new design adventure. So here I am with my online presence of ‘Ethnicrush’. Traditional design with modern touch.
