I love designing and making hand embroidered hoop art.
Growing up, I was fortunate to be surrounded by many talented women. My mother is a skilled seamstress and quilter and always keeps an open mind about trying other artistic pursuits. Between my grandmothers and aunts, there are those who weave, embroider, crochet, knit, sew, and quilt, and I inherited this love for fiber art. I especially enjoy knitting and quilting, but when I tried hand embroidery over a decade ago, I absolutely fell in love. There is something about using a needle, thread, and fabric that just feels perfect to me, as if I now have the control and the tools to express all these ideas that have been running around in my head.
I find nature and my travels an endless source of inspiration. Viewing my work, you will see New Zealand meadows, sunny fields of green grass, little gardens filled with all sorts of unlikely flower companions, and occasionally a piece alluding to literature. I feel as though I analyze everything I see and try to determine what stitches and colors I would use to recreate it. I have so much more I want to create and am looking forward to seeing how this embroidery journey unfolds.
Thank you so much for reading!
