Fun with Fabric and Yarn is my creative outlet and says what I am all about
Fun with Fabric and Yarn is the ETSY side of my business, B & B Designs. I’m Barbara Compton Erhard and my business began in 1996 after getting a patent on a beach tote bag I call a “beach buddy.” After getting several orders from my test group (family, friends, co-workers) I asked my sister, Bev, if she wanted to join me and so the creative endeavor of B & B Designs began.
We bought a tent, a booth and metal grids and began doing summer art and craft festivals in Northern California. After 20 years, the show set up and take down was wearing on us. As I looked at our booth with all our colorful products I’d tell our customers we’re having way too much “fun with fabrics” and that evolved into my ETSY shop.
Fun with Fabric and Yarn is my “creative outlet” where I sell handmade items I sew, knit and crochet. I’ve been sewing, knitting and crocheting since I was 12 (thanks, Mom, for making me take Singer sewing lessons). I take great pride in my creations. Most of these products are from patterns or ideas I’ve collected for years but never had time to try. Now that I’m retired, I can “start anew” on these projects. The child items are now “grandchild” approved and YES, the grandchildren are old enough for Grandma to teach them the needle arts and keep the tradition alive. With so much fabric and yarn, my ideas should keep me “stitching” for quite awhile.
