It all started at the beach.
I spent my childhood collecting sea glass on regular visits to the many beaches around Vancouver. Eventually my sea glass collection was getting a bit excessive, so I decided to do something productive with it. It was a natural progression for me to start making jewelry. So, at the age of 14, I opened my shop and I’ve been going ever since.
Since then, the items I use to create my jewelry have expanded to include almost anything beautiful I can find and sustainably collect from the beach, alongside repurposed vintage jewelry and broken pieces of antique plates and teacups. My love of history and antiques led to my interest in china and desire to breathe new life into broken or useless pieces by giving them a new purpose. I love to try and unravel the history of my supply's past lives. When was this tea cup made? what was that piece of sea glass used for? These little odds and ends have often lead rather interesting lives.
My philosophy is to give things that could be perceived as useless (such as a broken teacup) new life as a piece of beautiful,one of a kind jewelry. In this way, new things can be created from old, with minimal impact to the environment and limited consumption of new resources.
