About

Functional Porcelain Pottery

During the last three decades, I have traveled a twisting road, with several different careers, as a civil engineering draftsman and technician, woodworker, electronics technician… but always along the way, an artist. Growing up, I had never considered pottery as a medium… I simply wasn’t exposed to much handmade work except a few dark colored crocks our family had… Many years later, upon receiving a beautiful stoneware vase as a birthday present, I looked at it with a new appreciation and said “I can do this”… A few months later I had enrolled in the Fine Arts & Ceramics program at West Virginia University…

All of my work at present is true high- fired porcelain (approx. 2390 F.) Fired in a natural-gas forced-air burner reduction kiln.

USPS rates are increasing again. It now costs over $7 to ship just 1 mug to the Midwest region (much more with greater distance) with priority service. My studio and home is smoke-free; I utilize gently used recycled materials for most packing. Therefore, I do not charge for those materials- pretty much just the actual shipping cost rounded off. I try to take a reasonable path to enable you to enjoy the product of chance, thought and fire. Let me know what you need?
