I was hesitant about this because of the size. I thought it may be too small for even my wallet but I loved it so much I took a chance and bought it any ways. If you'r doubting buying this, DON'T! This is my absolutely favorite bag I have ever purchased. It's worth every penny. I love that it is completely original and there is nothing out there like it. Beautiful craftsmanship! The fringe is really nice, not cheap, thin pieces on others I've seen, where you know they'll get torn off after a few uses. I LOVE this, thank you so much!

Not in the best condition with stains and holes on the better pieces.

We're very sorry to hear you were not happy with your fabric bundle! We reached out to you to offer you a new one but did not hear back. Our large fabric packs include over 50 pieces of fabric with a wide array of sizes and prints. It is a reality when working with very rare and antique textiles that some imperfections might occur. We find that many of our customers would like to have a piece of something very special & unique, even if parts of it might be damaged as some people only require a very small piece for their projects. In this case, we always compensate by adding in a few extra pieces. As always, we are very receptive to your requests for particular prints and sizes and will do our best to accommodate when we can.

The newest prints to join our family of Voyageur backpacks - lovely Japanese yukata cottons!
And here's the black version in our African mudcloth! Such a beautiful rustic textile - woven by hand, naturally dyed then the motif is painted on using mud and left in the sun to dry. Incredible!

About

Storytelling Through Textiles

When I was young I saw a woman selling dresses made from Indian sari silks at a market in my hometown in the Pacific Northwest. I thought this fabric was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen and it conjured in my mind some pretty fantastic images of palaces and maharaj, smoky winding markets, exotic scents and haunting music that stayed with me for a long time. Then and there I pledged to myself that when I was old enough, I would travel to India. A few years later, I did and later returned to Canada with a backpack full of sari silk. I promptly started sewing clothing, pillows and bags and selling them in local consignment shops and markets. Since that time I have continued to search far and wide in search of beautiful and unique materials to use in my designs, from Jaipur to Tokyo, Marrakech to Oaxaca.

Grace is a collection of accessories made from found, limited edition textiles and one-of-a-kind embellishments that have been sourced through my travels. The fabrics I seek are storytellers, they speak of their history and traditions of craft, of adventures abroad, foreign marketplaces, heritage and imagination. My work is rooted in a core ethos that values the preservation and diversity of culture and creativity and thus, it is with reverence and respect for these cultures and their traditions that I sample from such a diverse array of textiles from around the world.

Every GRACE product is made by hand in Toronto, Canada.

My work has been featured seen in many publications including The Huffington Post, MSN, Oh Joy, CBC, Global TV, The Toronto Star, Miss Moss, Creature Comforts and Canada's Financial Post. In 2013 I was selected by Toronto Life magazine as a Toronto designer to watch out for and in 2012 I was chosen by Etsy to be a featured artist at their first ever pop up event in New York City. Most orders are shipped with Canada Post Trackable and usually arrive with 10 days in North America. Regrettably, we cannot take responsibility for any duties or charges incurred by your country of residence.

Many of our international orders and smaller items are sent with Canada Post Small Packet Air which is not a trackable service but is still very reliable. The cost to ship with tracking internationally is quite high and can be more than the item you are purchasing. Please note that in an effort to remain environmentally sustainable, we do not include a tracking slip or paper invoice in our shipments.
Additional policies and FAQs
As the fabrics we work with are often vintage, gently used and imported from faraway places, from time to time small defects sometimes do appear. Small pin marks, pilling, deterioration and age spots are a reality when working with vintage textiles and something you should be aware of when you place your order. While we try to avoid this, it is our belief that the beauty and one of a kind quality in these fabrics far outweighs these discrepancies.

As noted in most descriptions, your bag may look slightly different from the photo. Each piece is truly one of a kind - the placement of the pattern varies from item to item and usually will not look exactly like the photo.
