Frequently asked questions
Do you offer Braille?
Yes, we do. We can add grade 2 Braille to most of our signs. Some signs in our shop come standard with Braille and some do not. Please message us if you are unsure. Just adding Braille to a sign does not make it ADA compliant, but we can help you purchase what might be right for your business. Please note, we cannot add Braille to any reclaimed barnwood signs or other signs with a deep texture.
What does 'ADA compliant' mean?
Many people think that just adding a handicapped symbol means the sign is ADA compliant which is FALSE. ADA compliant signs must include a checklist of items (text, Braille, pictograms, correct font styles and sizing, etc.) and we can guide you through the process and provide suggestions if needed. Not all signs in our shop are ADA compliant, but we can make all of our signs to be ADA compliant. Please message us prior to purchasing any signs if you aren't sure.
Do you make custom signs?
Yes! We have a wide range of materials and designs to choose from or we can make something completely unique. If you need 1 sign or 1000 signs, we can help. We also make large custom logo signs and personalized company sign packages that can incorporate your brand's style guide. Do you need a specific color? No problem. Do you want a specific font? No problem. Our custom order process is fast and easy. Just message us!
I live in California, Connecticut or New York. Do I need special signs?
Yes. California and New York businesses must follow Title 24 guidelines for all commercial signage. Connecticut businesses must display the 'active' handicap icon on their ADA accessible signs. We can help guide you through the process and design your sign package accordingly. Please message us if you have any questions or need us to help with an order.
Do you make commercial sign packages?
Yes! We service many businesses large and small and over many different industries including medical offices. We offer complete custom sign packages that can include everything from simple room numbers to technical ADA compliant signs.
Is there a difference between ADA 'compliant' and ADA 'accessible'?
Yes. If you are a business that is open to the public, we recommend making all of your signs ADA compliant. Although your facility may not be ADA accessible, you can still have ADA compliant signs. ADA "accessible" means that your establishment allows those with disabilities to easily use and move through your space. ADA "compliant" means your signs follow strict guidelines that will allow those with disabilities to read and understand your signage even if the facility isn't ADA accessible. If your space is ADA accessible, you should strongly consider having ADA compliant signs. If your space is not ADA accessible... you should strongly consider having ADA compliant signs.
I have a building inspection coming up and I'm terrified. What should I do?
Just call or email us and we'll make the process easy. You got this!
Are ADA compliant signs expensive?
Nope! Most are the same price as what you'll find in our shop. We even make custom ADA compliant signs, complete with Grade 2 Braille. Occasionally, there might be a small fee to customize a sign, but we'll always tell you before you purchase anything. (We often throw little perks in for free though.)
