Leather is a wonderful and versatile material. It is a meterial that goes along with mankind since thousands of years. Maybe that's why it gives us such an earthy feeling of reliability. I don't know many people who don't like the smell and feel of genuine leather. A well made and well kept leather product is something that lasts a lifetime.
I'm fascinated by leatherwork since a long time, and although i come from a technical job the wish to do leatherwork for a living got bigger and bigger. This was the reason that i fundet Ur-Werk where now i do leatherwork and produce high quality leather goods.
Good quality for me always comes along with good, real craftmanship. Therefore i got occupied in learning old craftmanship, which i use now for making my products. These are manual cutting and adjusting the leather, lacing with leatherbands, and wet forming. Besides sewing with the machine i also do hand sewing with 2 needles (saddle Stitching). For the design i use techniques like leathercarving, embossing and different dying and staining techniques. Because all of that i can include individual wishes of my customers.
