Holland Cox is the home of stylish fabric accessories designed and handcrafted by me, Valerie Williams, in my home studio in the Washington DC area. There are nine handbag styles in the Holland Cox collection...you may have seen them featured in Daily Candy DC, Lucky Magazine, or the Washington Post Express. To see the newest ones, visit www.hollandcox.com.

the handbags
=====================
Since I founded the Holland Cox label in 2004, I have designed ten handbag styles: the classic, the envelope clutch, the wristlet, the A-line clutch, the mini-clutch, the flight bag, the briefcase, the hobo bag, the tote bag, and the satchel.

The handbags are always one-of-a-kind! My goal is to create individual works of art that are fun to wear, and make you feel bold and bright.

The newest style is the tote bag! Check them out here: http://www.hollandcox.com

the accessories
=====================
There are more than a dozen accessories for ladies and gents in the Holland Cox collection, and I am adding new ones all the time. They are all always limited edition, sometimes one-of-a-kind. Come back often, since I add new items and colorways regularly. As every item is made individually, placement of fabric patterns will vary.

the sewing patterns
=====================
I started designing sewing patterns in 2011 as an outlet for my sewing evangelism. I love sewing so much, I want everyone ELSE to love it, too! I would love to see pictures of the things you make using my patterns! I'm working on new ones all the time, drop me a line if there's something you'd like to see specifically.

Really attractive, well-made watch roll. My watches fit perfectly and the entire package - watches plus roll - takes up very little space. Exactly what I wanted and needed.

About

bright color, bold pattern, and simple, eye-catching designs.

After several months of rushing home every day after work to sit at my sewing machine or in front of my sketch pad, it occurred to me that my quarter-life crisis might be over. My revelation: I really just want to sew all day long. One day, I threw together scraps from two skirts I had just made, and an old pair of pants I had recently converted to shorts. What I got was the very first Holland Cox handbag, although I didn't know it at the time...that was 2004.

Since then, I've been working hard to create pretty things to lively up the wardrobes of those who crave color, love the luxury of handmade, and hate to look like everybody else. I love my job!

I named my business after my paternal great-great-grandmother, Holland Cox, who was the first person in my family to set foot on American soil. She was also a master seamstress, back when sewing was a critical life skill and not just a hobby. She taught her daughter-in-law (my great grandmother Clevie Turnage) to sew and quilt, and I feel incredibly lucky to own several quilts made by Clevie and her Winterville, North Carolina sewing circle. They are in excellent shape and extremely cozy!

    I knew my quarter-life crisis was over when I figured out I just want to sew all day long. One day, I experimented with some fabric scraps, and what I got was the very first Holland Cox handbag, although I didn't know it at the time...that was 2004.

Holland Cox handcrafted fabric accessories are for people who want something that adds energy, color, and personality to their wardrobes. Does that sound like you? If you don't want to look like everybody else, and you love having something made by hand, you have come to the right place! My collection for Holland Cox includes eight handbag styles, more than a dozen accessories, and a growing collection of sewing patterns. To check out my latest handbag collection, visit www.hollandcox.com.

Like the handbags, all the accessories are completely handcrafted by me from my original patterns. Also like the handbags, I favor bright colors and bold patterns for the accessories. Every new item I design is about something that I'd like to have, and something that I enjoy making. I try to make each item practical and pretty at the same time.

I almost always use 100% cotton, but I have been known to use linen, velvet, velveteen, silk, and vinyl. I use new, vintage, and re-purposed fabrics. If you want me to making something out of fabric that you already have, send me a convo and we can make it happen!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
This shop accepts PayPal, major credit and debit cards, and Etsy gift cards. If you are placing an order using a Holland Cox gift certificate you received as a gift, please send me a convo before you order!

Orders shipping to Virginia will include a 6% sales tax applied to the retail total (not including shipping).

International orders may be subject to customs fees or import duties, payable to local authorities upon receipt of the item. Please consult your local post office for more details! Unfortunately I do not have access to information about possible customs fees in your locality.
Shipping
I ship from the Washington, DC (USA) area to anywhere nationwide and internationally using the U.S. Postal Service. Domestic orders will ship via priority mail flat rate shipping, which is a fixed rate based on the size of the box, not weight or location. Most single items in my shop will fit either in a small flat rate box ($6.10 within the US) or flat rate envelope ($5.75 within the US).

International orders will ship via first class mail, which for most items in my shop is $9.00 to Canada and $13.00 to everywhere else.

When your package ships, you will receive a note from me through Etsy that includes a hyperlink you can use to track your package online. It can take up to 24 hours before the tracking becomes live. Flat rate shipping usually takes 3-5 business days within the US. International orders are not tracked once the package leaves the US, and delivery times vary by location.

If you require expedited shipping, would rather I ship to you using something other than the USPS, or would like some other upgrade, please convo me and I can create a shipping option for you that meets your needs.

International customers: please consult your local post office to inquire about possible customs fees or import duties when ordering goods from the US. Unfortunately I cannot predict if you will encounter such fees in your locality when you order from me online.
Refunds and Exchanges
Custom orders and hair accessories are not returnable. If you are at all unsatisfied with any other purchase, please contact me within five days of receiving the item.
Additional policies and FAQs
I am very happy to do custom orders, especially for brides and their parties! The only custom work that I cannot do at this time is draft new, original patterns for individual customers. However, if you would like an item listed in the shop (or one you have seen at one of my craft shows/trunk shows), but in a specific color/fabric, then let's chat and make it happen!
