hellopineapples is taking a short break

Note from shop owner I took a short break to work on a different kind of DIY project: a new baby. Unsurprisingly, that DIY project continues, so I’m taking a bit of a longer break to work on getting that creativity going again.

Charming, disruptive, hand-stitched embroidery

It all started with a sock monkey because I didn't want to throw out my favourite pair of socks. And then I made sock monkeys for everyone I knew. So I started to sell them because there's only so many sock monkeys one person needs.

But a funny thing happened while I was making those sock monkeys: I taught myself to embroider in order to give them faces and baby friendly eyes and I fell in love with embroidery. So I started playing around with embroidered pieces and the Canadian Heritage Minutes series was born. It snowballed from there.

While embroidery is my passion, my day job is in marketing where I do web content and I'm the mom of a busy toddler. I spend my evenings with my stitching after I put that toddler to bed and turn on Netflix or a podcast. I often find my embroidery inspiration in what I'm watching or listening to.
