Mum, part time art teacher, creative business owner making colourful handmade jewellery you will love for years to come!
Ever since I can remember, I have loved fiddling about with bits and pieces and making things, so there is no wonder that I have found myself creating a handmade business.
I have a degree in woven textiles from Loughborough University and then spent 10 years working at John Lewis as a visual merchandiser where I was responsible for designing the windows. In 2005 I retrained as a secondary school Art teacher and I still teach now, it is a real passion of mine, I love teaching and I'm proud that I work with such creative young people.
My son was born in 2010 and after having a lovely year of maternity leave I returned to my teaching job part time and I began to feel a huge urge to do something creative for myself. When my son started school I found I had some spare time, I felt that the time had finally come to do something other than, cook, clean the house and shop. Now it was time for me, and I wanted to get creative again!!!!
So 'hello terry' was born during 2016 when I rediscovered polymer clay, something that I had played with as a child. Having decided to make a few necklaces from the clay, I realised that I could create jewellery that had a clean contemporary edge, I really love this aesthetic and have since been refining my technique to create modern, playful pieces of wearable art. I have developed my process over the years to create super smooth flat pieces that are made with integrity and will last you years to come.
I am Inspired by my seaside surroundings, art, colour, pattern and mid-century design. Im always aiming for my pieces to be fun and playful but never childish. I am currently really loving making my mix and match earring collection which are proving very popular!
I design and develop my pieces in my home studio in Brighton. I love selling on Etsy and I try to get out to sell at markets in and around my local area. A massive highlight for me recently is having hello terry jewellery stocked in the shop in the Hayward Gallery on the Southbank in London!
I love seeing how quickly my jewellery style has evolved and am excited for what might happen with it in the future. Please follow my exciting journey on Instagram and Facebook.
