Since 1967

My father was the first to show me how amazingly beautiful things could be made from simple materials. He owned a home craft business making fishing flies. It was just magical watching him. He also handset the type for his own catalog and ran copies off on a big wheel-style printing press. He taught me everything I know about marketing and customer service.

I started selling hippie style strings of colorful beads and artificial flowers at school in 1967. In 1969, seed beads were called love beads and strung on elastic thread to be worn as chokers. I made dozens of these for myself and friends. In college, I sold embroidery, beads and poster art. In the late 1980s, I started tying friendship bracelets and making covers for mini composition books.

I am always looking for new skills, ideas and styles. And my dream is to someday own a little head shop like the ones I remember from the hippie era, offering jewelry and incense, psychedelic posters, wind chimes, wall hangings, door curtain beads, scarves, shawls, hats and sandals, greeting cards and decals.... maybe a bit of glassware.

If you order something made with embroidery thread, you can use this color chart to tell us exactly what colors you prefer:

Necklace Lengths
Collar - 12" to 13". This fits around the neck and looks best with a v-neck or off-the-shoulder blouses or dresses.
Choker - 14" to 16". Should nestle around the base of the neck.
Princess - 16" to 18" in length. Halfway between choker and matinee length. Good with "crew neck" or turtleneck shirts, but also with low necklines.
Matinee - 20" to 24" in length. Should fall to the top of the breast area.
Opera - 30" to 36" in length. Should fall below the breast area. This can be looped over your head twice so it looks like you're wearing two strands. Elegante for evening wear and so forth.
Rope - 36" - 45". These look great with 1920s silhouette styles. They came back in the 1960s as a style of love bead necklaces, where they could reach 60-70" in length and were wrapped around several times.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to look at our wares. We will have much more in the coming months, so keep checking back.
