About imyourpresent
Behind the Present
Hello everyone! My name is Kelly Sloan Eident and I am the face and paws behind I'm Your Present. I graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2006 with a BA in Apparel Design and currently live in Providence, RI.
The first time I sold my handmade products, I was an eight grader living with my family overseas in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. My best friend Kitiya and I stayed up for nights crafting in our bedrooms- making friendship bracelets, beaded necklaces, painting light bulbs and sewing bandannas. We actually did pretty well selling at our school winter craft fair!
Fast forward to years later, and of course Kitiya and I both never stopped making things. I had just graduated from RISD and she was across the world in Australia. We both wanted to find a place online to sell our wares, and after a lot of instant messaging and searching around the internet, we found etsy. I started my shop in November of 2006.
Needless to say, I've moved up from working out of my bedroom at my parent's house and using my bed as a cutting table for fabric (i accidentally cut through that comforter too many times to count)! I now work out of the studio in my apartment in Providence RI with the help of my two assistants (and best friends) Liz and Kayla. After they leave, I often work well into the night.... I never can seem to get enough of making things with my hands! Expanding my business and product line has been an amazing and exciting adventure. With each new skill I learn- whether it's screen printing or laser cutting, each new step unlocks a world of possibility in my mind.
