All charms have a plastic protective film on them!!! Some films are more noticeable than others, but if your charm starts "peeling" then that is the protective film. (also if your charm seems 'scratched' chances are it is the film that has sustained the damage.)

You may peel the film to uncover the acrylic- I recommend leaving the film on until it starts peeling to give your charm a longer life.
