One Of A Kind, Hand Dyed, Batik Clothing

Batik is an ancient art form of creating designs on fabric with wax and dyes. Melted wax is applied to cloth before being dipped in dye. Wherever the wax has seeped through the fabric, the dye will not penetrate. Sometimes several colors are used, with a series of dyeing, drying and waxing steps. Thin wax lines are made with a tjanting needle, a wooden handled tool that has a metal cup with a tiny spout, out of which the wax seeps. After the last dyeing, the fabric is boiled to dissolve the wax and reveal the deep rich colors and the fine crinkle lines that give batik its character. NO TWO ARE EVER THE SAME!

All of our batiks are waxed and hand dyed right in our home in
Hyde Park, Vermont. Each piece has been boiled, washed several times, and dried in a hot dryer, so they should not bleed or shrink. We recommend washing with like colors and line drying to keep the colors bright.

Each batik is an unique piece of
wearable art
guaranteed to satisfy
your inner wolf.

About

Batik clothing for the whole family, waxed and dyed with love in the Green Mountains

Inner Wolf Batik is made up husband & wife team- Micha & Shannon Rodgers.
Micha learned the art of batik while following the Grateful Dead. What started out as a way to make it to the next show, soon turned into a passion. Micha met Shannon and fell deeply in love! Now they work together, creating fun, funky, colorful, pieces of wearable batik art sure to satisfy your inner wolf.

All of our designs are inspired by music, nature, Vermont, and the light of our life- our children Stella and Weylyn.

Thanks for your interest in Inner Wolf Batik. My husband and I love working together to make unique, fun, colorful clothing for men, women, & children!

Batik is a multi step process. All of our designs are drawn on by hand with melted Vermont beeswax. The designs are then dyed and over waxed. The whole garment is dyed, boiled to remove the wax, then washed 4-5 times to remove the last of the dye and wax.
