Cleaning & Drying Fur
Handwash: Wet a clean washcloth, use liquid soap & water to gently scrub and rinse away dirt.
Washing Machine: Put the faux fur in a mesh laundry bag and run a delicate cycle with cold to medium water temperature; do not use extra hot water as it can damage the fur. Do not bleach - chemicals and chlorine will ruin faux fur.
Warning: Texture and sheen can change slightly after a machine wash. Only use a machine if absolutely necessary (ie: heavy mud or dirt that cannot be hand-washed away).
It is not recommended to wash thin or wispy furs in a machine. Plush, thick furs are safer to machine-wash.
Do not put faux fur into a dryer, it will be easily damaged from heat. Let faux fur air-dry by hanging or laying flat, comb if needed.
Prepping For Wear
Faux fur will always have some light shedding with use. Some faux furs shed more than others, some less. I remove a lot of loose fur before I ship it (aside from scrap bags) to minimize shedding. Faux fur may become flatter during shipment, but you can take your faux fur accessories outside and give them a nice shake to remove any additional loose fibers as well as to "fluff up" the fur. Using a teaser comb to gently comb fur will straighten them out and add fresh shine.
Excess touching and handling of the fur can cause it to matte or stick together. Oils, moisture, & lotions from hands should best be avoided to come into frequent contact with faux fur - after all, it is synthetic (not real animal fur) and should be treated as a delicate.
Storing Faux Fur
Store your faux fur in a place where it can stay cool and away from dirt, dust, smoke, pet hair, etc. When not in use, store your accessories in a plastic bag or container. This will lengthen the life of your faux fur by preventing the fur from becoming too dried out or damaged by environmental factors.
