About

a tiny shop filled with tiny things

I've been unintentionally creating miniature art since I was kid. Every craft I tried, every art medium I dabbled in, always turned out half the size I was going for. Cross stitch projects intended for an 8x10 frame turned out smaller than a postcard. Origami kits promising life-sized flowers, in my hands turned into dollhouse bouquets. Drawings on a piece of printer paper became postage-stamp-sized doodles.

Whatever wiring in my brain was causing me to tend toward the miniature, eventually I learned to embrace the tiny-ness.

In 2010, I started experimenting with nail art after realizing there were ten tiny canvases at the ends of my fingertips, and in 2012, I became a licensed nail artist. I never worked with gems, and couldn't stand painting flowers, so I just painted what I loved: pop culture, cartoons, video games, food. I wasn't sure how people would react to those motifs, but I was super happy to find fans of my work. My nails were featured in Nails Magazine, Nail It!, GQ, Bon Appetit, Nailpro, on News 4 New York, and at the Spring 2014 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. I won Nails Magazine's Mini Masterpiece contest, and was a Top 7 contestant in the Next Top Nail Artist 2013 competition.

But I wanted everyone who loved what I loved to have my quirky nail art stamp on their fingertips. Traveling the world to make that happen was pretty impractical, so in 2013, I started scheming.

Jane's Tiny Things started in January of 2014 with a small collection of waterslide decals featuring my illustrations. The goal was to find other nerdy gamer-and-tv-loving junk food addicts who would identify with my style and want to show the world their love of silly things like diner desserts and Saved By the Bell on their fingernails. My husband and I agreed on taking a few months to try the business out, so I quit my job, took a deep breath, and jumped in.

And the great thing was, I found my people! David Bowie-obsessed fans who died over the fact that they could add him to their fingernails in an instant. BFFs who discovered the perfect "thank you for being a friend" Golden Girls decals gift for each other. My artwork has been featured on the Huffington Post, Paste Magazine, MTV.com, and Bustle.

In late 2015, I decided to appeal to the other side of my nerdy self and came out with a line of cute little magnetic bookmarks featuring your favorite characters and your favorite quotes.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

All of my products feature my own illustrations. If you like my style and would like to commission some artwork from me to be made into nail decals or a bookmark, email me and we can chat about it! I'm always open to drawing your bf's face or your favorite foods or characters. However, I will not recreate another artist's work, or print a photo of yours, or an image you found on the internet, and being able to do custom work is entirely dependent on how busy I am.

Gift wrapping and packaging

If you are sending your item as a gift, please let me know in the notes so I don't add in a receipt. I'm also always happy to add in a hand-written note with your wording!

Wholesale availability

We sell our items wholesale to all kinds of shops, so if you're interested in carrying our line, check us out on Etsy Wholesale, or send us an email to check out our current line sheet.
