I've always enjoyed the sea and landscapes that surround us all during my travels. Throughout these projects, I try to portray an image of calmness as well as evoking thought. While most paintings are of landscapes, I've also been challenging myself to get outside the familiar and depict other images. In earlier years, I challenged myself to paint images using recycled products for canvas. Prior studies included wine corks as canvas and broken beer and liquor bottles in construction of drink coasters. The latest of those series used local beach shells.
When recently reminded of how short life truly can be, I reevaluated what is important; spending time with family, putting creative ideas into practice, and jumping into the next challenge. While not technically trained, I challenged myself while taking classes at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts by learning new techniques and to be more attentive to visual cues. As a result of those classes (and the need for my niece and nephew’s birthday presents) came the creation of the animal collage series.
My work has been displayed and sold at such shows as Artomatic DC, Marcatus by Art Whino in Washington, DC, BOLD by RAW Boston, and other various local Massachusetts and Rhode Island Arts and Craft shows.
